Virginia was a horse owner at age 3 years, competing in pony shows and then by age 10 years riding hunters. She began fox hunting at age 14 with Ben Hardaway, Midland Hounds in Columbus GA and Live Oak Hounds in Thomasville, GA. She received her Hunt Colors after two years as a full member. She has hunted all over the South and is a graduate of the University of Georgia. Virginia subsequently learned eventing and rose to Training Level (under the guidance of Susan Babington Worther) and then Preliminary (trained by Lellie Ward). She pursued Dressage with Toi Trent, and competed through training level 3, tests 1, 2, 3 on a horse she bred and raised. Virginia is a previous Girl Scouts of America Summer Camp riding instructor, an assistant riding coach at Clemson University and enjoys instructing intermediate riders. Her love of training horses is matched by her devotion to family. Her daughter is an intercollegiate riding team member.
